I tried as a teenager and it always went very bad.... I hate the hairdressers and leave big gaps in between each visit.

Clippers FTW. Most of the time. The important thing is that they've saved me a small fortune over the years.

No, about 2 foot is it's 'natural length' it just breaks off after that.
I thought it was receding so decided to grow it long 'one last time', it hasn't really changed since apart from going a bit grey.
