Mushroom ID

Just down at the allotment and found one of my chickens feeding on these .
Any idea what they are please ?

Yep, just normal mushrooms.......get them in the pan.....delicious!

They do look like field mushrooms, and probably are, but as a general rule never rely on anyone identifying photographs of mushrooms over the interweb! Don't underestimate just how dangerous some mushrooms can be - the ones that kill you really do kill you. Fortunately, the deadliest shrooms are not to be found among the Agaricus species, but you ought at the very least to eliminate the Yellow Stainer from your enquiries, check what you've got against a reliable description, and check that you have not collected any miscellaneous different species...

I'm not going to eat them I just wondered if I would have an ill little chicken in the morning . I want to go for a ride tomorrow so no chance I will be trying them ! Eating unknown food and then dressing in lycra and heading away from home on a bike is a very bad idea IMHO
Ive pulled loads of these out over the last few weeks . They are growing in the old wood chip and chicken poo that I throw out of the chicken shed .

I would say that they are field mushrooms and are safe to eat, but, if in any doubt, always play safe.

I doubt it - it's odds on that they are just field mushrooms or similar. Worth IDing properly though if you've got a good source of them and you like mushrooms - it's slightly early for a bona fide Field Mushroom, so my money would be on Agaricus bitorquis - best known as the mushrooms that can push up pavements. As an aside, the mushrooms that are very poisonous to humans are not necessarily poisonous at all to other species - some critters are even able to nibble on Death Caps without consequence.

I have ID'dedded death caps on the plot although not in this area . You eat them and be sick . Think things are ok and then you die

Good work! Not wishing to be a killjoy, but everyone considering collecting mushrooms to eat should be obliged to read horror stories of Death Cap poisoning. I've been eating wild mushrooms for years, and I still shudder slightly whenever I find one of the deadly Amanitas....
