I'll let you know where they are ......... Sainsburys ....
don't tell anyone

All the 'rules of thumb' about what is and isn't edible are cobblers!Dad always told me...dont pick mushrooms from near trees. I never did until a few years ago, I came across maybe 10 in grass near some trees and hedges. Remembered what dad said.., but they peeled like mushrooms, the underside was a similar colour...they look ok. Fried them then looked at the underside.....nooooo thankyou, they went a pinky red colour.
I think the thought was..mushrooms are easily Identifiable. Woodland fungi need some extra care and experience. If you're only interested in picking mushrooms, no need to complicate things byicking them near woodlamAll the 'rules of thumb' about what is and isn't edible are cobblers!
No I mean there are no rules of thumb that will keep you safe. There are exceptions to all of them. And there are some seriously poisonous things that grow on open grassland.I think the thought was..mushrooms are easily Identifiable. Woodland fungi need some extra care and experience. nd where there are many more unknown species than in open grassland.
I assume its a simple rule of thumb as you say...but one simply to keep things...simple.
Reindeer love 'em.
Phew, we won't be hearing from @User14044 for a while

I put that on my Xmas list, who says Santa doesn't exist.Phew, we won't be hearing from @User14044 for a while
It's very big, anyway. There wouldn't be "mush room" left on your plateCame across this beauty this morning. It smelt pleasantly mushroomy but my big mushroom book suggests it's probably not edible. Don't worry, I didn't try it.
The water bottle is there to show the scale.

Is that a young Grifola frondosa? AKA Hen of the Woods? If so it's arguably edible. Although I must add that I've never eaten one, and that I wouldn't eat anything on the basis of some numpty on the interweb suggesting that something is arguably edible.Came across this beauty this morning.
