If anyone's looking for Spanish campsites, I'd recommend the ACSI Campsites Europe app.

I've never stayed in one becuase rooms are so cheap, another poster quoted 40 euros, I reckon my average spend is half that and it's often less.

That was probably me. Sharing a €40 room makes it about the same as a campsite.
I think it was this book that pointed me along the road to hotels in Spain. Of course, the alburgues on the pilgrims' routes are even cheaper. Then again, I have seen that film The Way about pilgrims' routes and it is pretty accurate about the walkers on those routes.....

The 15 euro average is for two people. Even if you always manage to get a hotel at around that price, over a month you're still looking at an extra 700 quid, plus it's much easier to self cater when camping (although eating out in Spain is very cheap compared to northern Europe).
Anyway, each to there own, if the weather's nice we prefer camping to staying in a hotel anyway.

I have that book too, a nice read, I dream about doing every tour in it!

The cost I quoted, 20 euros, is for 2 people in a good sized room in a basic hotel (Hostal) or above a bar, I've often paid less. Upwards of 30 euros, then I'd expect a buffet breakfast enabling me to pilfer a days food intake, bringing the price down towards 20. I have an advantage in that my Spanish is not bad so I can find rooms that might not always be obvious to others. Rooms are cheap all over Spain, I only pay 25 euros 5 mins off Las Ramblas.

I like camping and I think Spain also lends itself very well to wild camping, but I tour in the heat and I need showers and, if possible, air con at night. I'd like to try some of the campsites along the Cantabrian/Asturian coast, I've seen some beauties whilst touring up there.
