i think i'm going to have a busy day tomorrow. staking out solicitor, council and cop shop to get some answers. The worse thing is, i've had this place on the market for the last year. i have only had two viewings. one was the day after his last attempt (not surprisingly, the scorch mark up the wall didn't go down well). The 2nd one was supposed to be today. i had to cancel it.
i have given my tenant notice. in all honesty, i can't keep her there, i couldn't live with myself if she died. and she's visibly shook up. She was away last time it happened, i told her but she said she wanted to stay. This morning she told me she was happy i gave her notice because actually witnessing it has given her a different perspective on how serious it is. I suppose being dragged out the window by a fireman does that to you.
Neither do i want to sell it to an unsuspecting person any more. This is way beyond annoying neighbours now.
If the smoke alarm hadn't woke her, everyone would have died, none of the other residents woke up until the firebrigade knocked them up. One is severely disabled. The fire would have broke through the ceiling and into the cavity, tracked sideways (fire tracks sideways) and ended up under her floorboards... but no doubt she would have died of smoke inhalation as there is an old venting system between the floors from the old hot air heating.
i might also go to the local rag. here are some pictures of his flat inside, taken through his window. the tax payer is paying his rent.
