heres a pic of my bike, i wonder if any one here has seen me on it lol

go around edinburgh a lot on it and been to linlithgow and beyond in that direction, over 1000 miles on it

mybike_zps0acd9e31.jpg

not the best far from it, but im very happy with it as a replacement for my ancient ridgeback 602ex

im a fat guy with a black helmet usually

done 2 40 mile rides on it up to prestonpans from queensferry lol

edit: ill need new tyre's soon and i have been on roads a lot as confidence grows, would thinner tyres be better for my average speed and manuevering? my old ridge back had very thin tyres so i guess im used to them, but these ones are massive and very very grippy which i think is hampering road performance lol

i changed the front derailuer to a deore one and am very happy with the sram x7 on the back

the only issue i have encountered is the occasional chain suck when disengaging from the front big ring, think its a burr or something ill find it and file it down a bit

That's not a bike ... it's a piece of military hardware!

Love it. ^_^
Slick tyres will help with speed and handling enormously.

Wow those are chunky tyres!

So nice that you're happy with your bike and having a great time on it - but yeah, I'd change them tyres! I ride a hybrid for commuting and I find it useful cos it's all country lanes in a terrible condition and I sometimes have to go onto the verge to get past a tractor or something, but if I was riding just on proper roads I'd try something slicker myself.

If you need the phone number of my shrink, just ask. I used to be afraid of the dark as well but he cured me ;0)

Schwalbe City jets are a good cheap choice amongst others, that's what I've got on my old MTB. Semi slick though so no good on the sticky stuff, nice bike BTW.

think it needs a massive clean this weather has not been kind to it again total caked in mud lol, thank god for disc brakes the dirt seems too just make them work better

don't trust my self to cycle it safely at the moment, stupid depression, so not been on it since last monday lol

saw the 8.1 in decathlon looked a very nice bike, the last time i went there, changed the saddle on mine could not get along with it, its better now but not perfect

deffo gonna get much thinner tyres soon, then ill see if i can live with that or pick up a triban 300 or something for road use, want to get about an average 20mph on flats, doing 10-15 at moment and max is 32. something downhill and i want to hit the 50 mile barrier instead of taking hours to hit 40 miles

oh a few months after i got the rockrider 540 they dropped the price and made the spokes black, damn i want the black spokes lol

oh this is the tyres it came with and they still have a lot of grip wtf lol http://www.kendatire.com/en/wheelchair/high-performance-sports/nevegal/

hehe cheers, maybe add some anti ned missles to it , yeh the lights look a lot but their really not as bright as you think, been blinded by other cyclists with a single light, also do not get me started on cars using highbeams in pitch black country roads lol

well spent most of friday stripping the bike down a lot and giving it the best clean its had plus doing maintenance, never knew removing the cassette off the rear wheel could be so difficuilt and i thought my weights strained my muscles lol

got it looking almost like new again and picked up a cheap pair of tyres in decathlon earlier, hence the new pics, it handles a lot more like my old ridgeback now and seems smoother when i tried it on road out side the house plus easier to go faster

ill see how i get along with they tyres before i spend money on a decent pair of what ever size i think suits me, im leaning strongly to thin less grippy ones at the moment a lot, new ones are size 1.75 instead of the massive 2.10's that were on it plus more suitable road treading, noticed a big difference on turning at low speed, coming down with sore throat etc so might be a few days before i get to let rip on them and im expecting some wheel spin on the cycle track

hmm no idea what the white bits on grips are???? only the flash on my s3 picked them up and i mostly use gloves lol

think it looks like new cept it has over 1000 miles on it, and yep i used blue thread lock on the part that holds jockey wheels in place, yeh i half took apart the rear derailueir too and 6 attempts to get the damn cassette of the back wheel i woke up with a very sore back leg muscle and shoulders and arms lol, scraped a surface layer of crud off and regreased it on that side on the wheel hub
