Handed in my notice this week for the temp contract as it comes to an end at the end of feb and have another job to go to but the new job is 27 miles away so a bit to far for a commute on the bike. I've got to say I am gutted that I'm not going to be riding anymore to work. The thing that rubs salt into the wound even more is it would be perfect to ride there as the new company is a shower company lol.

ho hum looks like its gonna have to be a tin box again

you dont have to drive the complete distance. Get a Brompton, park up and ride a distance in.

I was going to suggest a Brompton too - Ian beat me to it! Part cycling will keep the hunger at bay surely?

I was thinking the same but dont know the area and streets (Greenithe). I was also looking at train and ride but that would take ages and would mean riding away from the local station to get a decent ride in and i know what im like I would probs just take the easy option.

Nah.... no reason you cant drive part way and cycle. Plenty of parking anywhere along the Thames Gateway from Sittingbourne. C'mon mate... you know it makes sense.

Drive and park up in Rochester (or Higham) and it's about 15 miles (12 miles) to Greenhithe

doesnt have to be a brompton, i regularly used to drive half of my 24 mile commute with the spesh allez in the back of my citroen c3, seats down front wheel off, only takes a minute to get it in and out, highly recommended.

27 miles is do-able. I ride 22, and do a physical job.

You could always just do one way, get the train in and cycle home...maybe more when it's summer .

My jobs have always been within cycling distances (furtherest was 15 very hilly miles - new lands corner first thing in the morning xx()
