In Spain. I know this because it is taking Spanish lessons. As I move my mouse over a word a small box appears, like a Linguaphone record, and gives me a translation in to Spanish.

Now, I'm not unsympathetic. I can understand the attraction of a week in the Canaries, especially at this time of year. But these interruptions are an embarrasing reminder of my the parlous state of my own Spanish, which, in my days of wandering around Latin America, ssed to be top notch (or de primera clase, as I am reliably informed). So, why? And how to stop it?

What browser are you using? And have you recently installed any toolbars (Google, Yahoo etc)

you've sorted it. As you were too kind to mention, I scarcely know what a toolbar is - but, my eyes venturing to those little 'icons' at the top of the screen I see the word 'translate'. My mouse ventures, timorously to the icon, and a 'menu' appears. A menu with a tick on it. I 'click' on the tick, and, hey presto! No more translations!

Many thanks

Sounds like a Google toolbar thing

If you go to Google there is a toolbar with one of the options being translation.

You can set this to hover over words and translate - maybe this has been switched on.
If you go in there, there is an option to switch off translation

Hope that helps
