Hi all, a recent blog post of mine about my cross-country trip next year, just for a bit of fun (but surely you all already know this as you all follow along religiously - right?)

I've been thinking about writing this post for a while, just for a bit of fun! Everyone has their own bucket list, mostly these lists cover and span the entirety of their lives. I've one of those too, I just haven’t written it down as it is ever-changing as I think about all of the things that I want to do, the places I want to go and the things that I want to see.

But, since next year’s trip will hopefully come to fruition, and it will hopefully be own “alma mater”, my own trip of a lifetime and a journey of self-discovery, I've decided to do an individual bucket list of the things I want to do and see, eat and drink, as I cross Canada!

  1. Reach the Pacific Ocean, and dip the back tyre of my bike in the water. (This had to be on the list… Even if I don’t make it next year, I’ll do it someday).
  2. Eat a cinnamon bun from Cinnabon. Apparently, these things are to-die-for and HUGE. It’s just one big massive melting bun of cinnamon and sweetness and sugar and more sugar – what’s not to love?
  3. See Niagara Falls. (I’ve seen them before, but perhaps they’ll be more spectacular the next time around as I’ll have gotten there under my own steam).
  4. See the Rockies. (They are apparently one of the most beautiful things in this world. I want to experience that. Plus, it’ll be quite the climb!)
  5. Visit Wawa, Ontario. It has a special meaning for my grandmother, whom, ever since I was little, I have always called “Wah-Wah”.

  6. Take a selfie at a couple (if not all) of our “World’s Largest/Biggest/Tallest… etc”. We have plenty of those here!
  7. Do ‘the Edgewalk’ at the CN Tower! (I will likely not be able to afford it!)
  8. Experience true natural beauty.
  9. Do one ‘Random Hang’ in every province that I cycle through. (For more information on ‘Random Hanging’, check out the Twitter page!)
  10. WWOOF at least three times on my journey!`
  11. Meet up with all of the people that I’ve agreed to meet up with as I cross the country! (You guys, you know who you are – I’m coming for you!)
  12. Experience Canada Day in a truly Canadian way! (Whatever that might entail…)
  13. Rest on July 2nd, after said Canada Day antics.
  14. Embrace the headwinds. (After I run out of offensive things to call them! – That may take a while.)
  15. Fall in love with this country all over again, have a fantastic adventure and build my life from it.
*Please note that this is by no means a final list, and will grow and expand as new things spring to mind.

So, there you have it! A fairly short list, I think I'm missing a few things. But not quite sure what. For you Canadians out there - or Brits that have travelled to Canada - let me know if there's anything obvious missing, and I'll gladly add it!

Cheers,

Jack.

Wiki destroys another myth (still espoused by good Torontonians):
Yonge Street was formerly a part of Highway 11, which led to claims that Yonge Street was the longest street in the world. Running from the shores of Lake Ontario, through central and northern Ontario to the Ontario-Minnesota border at Rainy River, together they were over 1,896 kilometres (1,178 mi) long.

Good choice.

See a bear, but not at too close quarters.
