My cycle in to work day was totally idyllic

I thought I was on holiday.

Tail wind, beautiful blue skies, on the Guided Busway cycle track, no traffic, silent and cruising at 20 mph.

I thought this is what being on holiday is like if I took my bike.

Ride home was brilliant too !

Your right - was starting work late, went for a quick 10 miler this morning. The birds were singing, no traffic, and I didn't have to change down when I came to my usual climb. Definitely getting stronger and fitter!

Flippin windy up 'ere but kept the temp down a bit (i.e. cooling thank goodness) . Not complaining. No Strava bombing runs though.

Traffic was horrendous around 5.30pm tonight, had great fun filtering through it all
Even the headwind didn't annoy me like it would normally have done, looking forward to a wind assisted ride home later (brinksway under threat) :devil:

I was home - did an early dart, and was probably in the traffic to Morrisons at that time as the kids were at friends. SORRY !

Oh and Morrisons is less than a mile from home. I don't have a shop bike - need to sort that. And didn't even have my climate controlled car, the wife knicked it today.... FFS. I only had my bike (and her hot car - took the car)....

My task is a shop bike - any ideas folks ?

By the time I rode in at 10:30am a keen 25mph NE/E head wind had got up so I was battling all the way. Hardly any cyclists though. Coming back this evening was different though, cross/head wind for half the distance then a slight tailwind meaning cruising effortlessly at 25-26mph. Nice and warm though. Quite a few numptee cyclists out who clearly had little cycle experience riding all over the place ........ and then there was the huge group of kid scouts and guides whose leaders didn't have a clue about teaching responsible or courteous riding, not the kids faults but the muppet parents who were chaperoning them who were totally clueless.


But once I had navigated my way carefully and safely through that lot, it was indeed idyllic for the last few miles from Swavsey to St Ives passing the lakes.

Next week is looking good, very little wind and warm.

This morning's ride in, perfect conditions apart from having to carry one of my 'big' Altura panniers as I had a fair bit of stuff to carry to work. Really really wish I hadn't had to come in as I could feel a 40+miler coming on

It is a long gradual drag up though if riding eastwards. Good for training though if there is a head wind .

I'm dreading the shed loads of horse shoot that will have been dumped on the road over this weekend as I cycle home monday nights in the dark. Why can't they carry shovels to at least get it off the tarmac so it isn't lethal if you hit it at speed in the dark? As for those flippin grey barriers with no reflectives on them, they are lethal as well. Grey, of all colours. They are an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully come monday there won't be any broken glass deliberately put there by drunken chavs over this scorching weekend.

That bike looks like it's got the handling of a bath tub or hearse. I wouldn't want to ride it and certainly not carrying any weight in that box as it might fold up on you. A trailer is a far better proposition.

The folks at Outspoken Delivery seem to be ok on a similar design (except that the rider is in front of the box). I predict visibility issues pulling out of junctions when sitting so far back.
