There are some good ones out there. My current one for example plays by the rules, is friendly, is willing to discuss options etc.My brother would be horrified to read these stories.
He qualified a few years back, and spent a fair amount of time in the Dental Hospital and a local hospital post qualifying to gain extra experience. He then went into practice, but he sticks to the NHS rules, and never ever recommends additional rip off treatment. He has even done work in Africa, so called holiday, he paid to go, which meant three weeks field work and a few days off.
Keeping your teeth clean goes a long way, and I can recommend the electric tooth brushes, my brother buys us the top of the range ones for birthdays.... He gets them trade price.
FWIW, someone mentioned further up about being removed from the list. I think in the contract that brought in the 3 bands, that the lists thing was rendered null. As far as I'm aware a dentist now either does or doesn't do NHS, if he does then he has to accept patients. The one I have now, I couldn't get anywhere near 7-8 years ago. Rang him last year and it was "Certainly. We just need to do a checkup".
