My daughters boyfriend has a staffie. I took it for a walk and I was surprised how differently people respond to it/you. Nice enough dog to handle, but I'd never trust it 100% TBH.

I will agree with this.

When we had Petrix, an old softie Retriever Cross, people used to love to fuss her etc. When I saw a staffy, I admit that I did get a bit nervous around them and would be shoot scared if they were off the lead.

Now we have a lab/staffy cross (who is only staffy a bit in the face), I have noticed how some other dog owners will keep away from us, particularly those with smaller dogs.

It just brought home to me how I must have acted prior to having Ellie. She has no aggression in her and there have only been attempted attacks ON HER from other dogs, mainly Westies.

My dog met an Akita the other day, magnificent dogs but boy did he go into highly submissive mode when it sniffed him. He nuzzled it, licked it and lowered himself down: Clever lad, knows his limitations.

+ 1 again. We met a 6 month old Akita the other night and Ellie went straight into sub mode BUT, they then shared who was 'on top'. How gay.

Lovely to watch though.
