That's not a crack, it's a separation, a parting, a chasm, a canyon. You could have had squatters in it & never noticed them !

we've sent our 3 year old daughter to stay with the grandparents, she'd love to get involved but her plastering skills are rubbish. We're living with it.

Better than the top of the stairs. They're going to stop internal work until a structural engineer has visited, and that can't happen till Thursday afternoon.

So it turns out someone before we owned this house borked up the brickwork, and now the bricks in the arch above the back door are loose and in danger of falling out.
