Just been to the Opticians to get the eyes tested as part of our works health plan and as I am already using them for reading, being an old fart.

General upshot, I need stronger lenses and my right eye would fail the driving test, but thankfully the left is good enough to drag the overall result to a pass.

Your eyes are dim? Take a look at 3bm and my comments about your rowing boat avatar. Compared to us, your visit to the o.a.pticians must have been plain sailing. :becool:

My Mum has very little sight in her right eye, always has had. As a child, she had her first eye test when she went to school at about 5. They said "Cover one eye, read the chart", and then "Cover the other eye..." and she said "Oh, that won't work". "Why not?" "Well, I can't see out of that one!"

It had never occurred to her that this was wrong. She assumed you had one eye to see with, and the other to balance it on your face....

Arch - what's all this stuff about eyesight..this thread is about old geezers, and me, upping their post count by employing drivel in abundance...how dare you!

Bless! I can just imagine a 5-year old saying something like that...
