Only that it's harder to find bikes that can take them! Plus the frames and therefore bikes tend to be a bit more expensive, as they are more specialist.

Gates, the maker of the belt, say it lasts 'about twice as long as a chain' - not long given the cost of replacement.

There were problems with the belt rolling off, so they made a wider 'dual track' version.

The wider belt creates a platform for road grit, which can cause premature wear when mashed into the belt by the cogs.

Belt tension is also known to be critical.

It may be owners get a longer life from a belt, and 'roll offs' are not common.

But a belt drive is a compromise - as with most things on a bicycle.
