Well I did it my first 100.15 mile ride today.

I set off this morning from Harrogate in the lovely hot sunshine over to Wetherby then onto Tadcaster then Selby and up the bike track to York.

Once in York I followed the bike path into the center of York with the intention of following it to Easingwold but then the signs seemed to disapear and I was totally lost in the middle of York so I followed the main roads to the A19 Thirsk turn off on the roundabout at clifton and managed to join the bike path further on.

Next was Easingwold where I raided the the local costcutter for food as I was very very hungry, next into Boroughbridge then Knaresborough then I did my normal training circuit of Harrogate that I do most evenings to get the milage up to 100 then home.

At the 60 mile mark my average was 14.9mph and I was flying along with no trouble at all but as I progressed to 100 miles it my average and energy started going down and ended up at 13.5 which isnt too bad.

I now hurt in many places I didnt even know I had, but at least that is now out of the way. I think I will stick to 60-70 miles rides for a while.

Go for it and get it out of the way, I cant say I enjoyed the last 40 miles but there was no way I was going to give up.

Last time I tried it I got to 81.84 miles and just ran out if steam ;) so I wasnt about to let that happen again.

Glad to see someone measuring their achievements in miles and not the dreaded Kms - well done.

Just wait until he gets to 122 and a bit miles.

Well done Phil ;)

Its on the cards before the clocks change, 100km Audax on the 16th have a 75 route planned for the end of the this month, after than its just a matter of belief, courage and two packets of jelly babies.

A community ripple of applause for Phil.
