I'm hoping to start my own bike commute next week as well.

I have NO cycling clothes yet, though!

Can anyone recommend minimum, bare bones MUST have clothes for a 20 minute commute each day in a mild (West Coast) climate? Special shoes needed? Special shorts needed?

Thanks!
Do you cycle in your free time, such as on weekends or anything?
My idea cycle gear could be different to a lot of peoples, but I would say a t-shirt (jacket if its cold, but you could start getting very hot, so something breathable) and some tracksuit bottoms or something. I tend to cycle around in jeans which is no problem for me, but not suggested if you have a sensitive rear end.
Shoe wise, trainers with a stiff sole which will give you max support on any type of pedal (clipless not included).

At this time of year it probably doesn't matter, but if you are planning to carry on later in the year then a waterproof reflective jacket is the key purchase.

The other purchase I'd consider would be a pair of Endura Humvee shorts
