This morning was the first time I commuted into work on my pushbike! I usually take the car if it's wet, or a motorbike if it's sunny, so today "should" have been a motorbike day!

I started cycling in March, with a view to commuting, but I wanted to get my fitness level up slightly first! It's only about a 7 mile each way commute (most of which is downhill in the morning!), but I didn't want to arrive at work *too* out of breath and sweaty! Also of course, downhill in the morning means uphill in the evening. I've been cycling pretty much every evening for the last could of months, and from not being able to cycle more than a mile without feeling like I was about to die, I now usually do about 10 miles in the evenings, sometimes more at the weekends (26 miles on Sunday for example).

I know these mileage figures are pathetic for most of you "proper" cyclists, but no matter, I'm still proud!!

Errm, so, that's it really. Still got the up-hill journey home to look forward to of course, but the funny thing is that I am quite looking forward to it!

well done, keep up the hard work

Brilliant stuff, well done!

I started with 10 mile commuting a day and I am now working up to my first 100 miler. You'll be addicted before you know it!

It starts with commuting. That's what got me hooked, and 3 months in I'm already thinking about a second bike for doing sportive events. Watch this lot - they're dangerous to your wallet!

Cheers & welcome,
Darren

Thanks guys. I'm still looking forward to the journey home! It may all be uphill, but at least I know I can jump in the shower when I get there!

What kind of bike have you got?

It's a Specialized Globe. Little hybrid thing. I don't know much about bikes, but it appears to do the job reasonably well (actually, that's not really fair... It does the job very well, most of its failings are thanks to the engine! ;)).
