My first fall, and it's going to hit the pocket

I'm a bit tender after my first cycling fall this morning.

I tried to avoid a puddle which I wasn't sure if it was a pothole and ended up loosing the front end, sliding and then 2 off my club mates came over the top.

I checked the other lads and their bikes were ok before checking myself over and luckily all was fine with both bike and rider, being on the bottom I took the brunt of it.

My pride has been dented but worse than that my bike and clothing were damaged meaning more money going out. I'm still in one piece but I need to replace the ultegra shifters, rear mech and hanger, possibly the wheels and have some sort of a paint job done on 2 large paint chips. I also need to replace my helmet, new Castelli trasperante jacket and dilution glove and sportful NoRain bibtights. Luckily I didn't have my oakleys on, only some cheap safety specs

Ouch on the damage but you are ok and stuff can be replaced or fixed more easily than damaged skin and bone

I'm fine so far but have quite a few painkillers and anti-inflammatories in me at the minute, I'll know better later

I haven't had a chance to have a proper look so not sure on the shifters, there were displaced but I turned them back into position while I was waiting for my lift. The mech and hanger are a definite replacement.

What's the value and age of the bike?

I ask because the replacement bits could be hundreds, so the first stage is to assess if a full repair is worthwhile.

Don't make any decisions just yet - you won't be thinking clearly in your current state.

Parts will be replaced, and as long as it's not the shifters it should be relatively cheap, £35max for a rear mech and £10 for the hanger, £10-15 for hoods and £10-15 for bar tape (which was white and getting changed anyway)

I have Le Pug and she'll get me through winter so I'm not stuck, just need to get bibtights and I'm mobile again
