As long as I breathe, I attack.
Sound like good groups , my local club has 3 rides on a sunday
A slow 15 mph average
A medium 16-18 average
A Fast 20-21 average .

The fast boys dont wait for you, if you cant keep the pace the its tough which is a shame because theres to much of a jump from medium to fast and i cant see how to bridge the gap .

Two years ago I was the one at the back that everyone waits for. Now on a social ride I'm usually in the middle at least, apart from the hills. This Sunday I'm leading the intro ride for the second time.

It is a big jump from medium to fast, I can do a fast if i'm on my own but not in a group and yet I thought it would be easier in a group. ( depending on distance and climb of course )

Those speeds are the average for a 60 mile club run , the fast group could be clocking 25+ on the flat .

They have just announced a 4th group so novice, medium, fast and elite so i have posted on their twitter account to check speeds now .

Excellent! Let us know how you got on ....

Relieved that it went well, thanks.
Three new riders who'd never riden in a group before. Luckily one of the regulars decided to come with us which was nice support. They seemed happy with the speed and put up with the steady drizzle. I think they were pleased with themselves for doing a longer ride than they'd been used to.

Good show! It's rewarding isn't it?

Did my second group ride today with my new wheels and tyres and wow what a difference it makes. From being at the back holding everyone up the other week I was now moving up and down the group and pushing up the climbs.

It was such a relaxed feel today some graded climbs which I completed without getting off the bike slowly.

35 miles in total and 88 miles for the whole week and weighing myself for the first time I started cycling I have dropped from 17 stone down to my lightest I have ever been in my adult life at 14stone 10. Roll on 13 stone and the negative costs involved in purchasing a new wardrobe.
