Can you tap on the wall to make sure it is not hollow?

You need to take Ms Goodbody on the lath and get well plastered, using a good spread. And then, when you've finished, gently flick your brush here and there and give a right old buffing. Avoid hurting yourself if it's dry lining though...that would involve a bit of banging followed by a joint or two, before a quick finish. I like Mort's idea for the shower d'or though...make sure it slides back and forth smoothly at all times.
Does yours Grohe, Fnaar, or do you get a Redring?

Basically the house is too big for us, physically (to keep on top of DIY) and financially (to do it up properly). My life is spent patching the bloody place up.
