Yes. I don't know which version of Windows you have. I have machines that run Windows 7 and also Windows 10. The idea of System Restore is to make the PC revert to the settings it had at an earlier date when it behaved. You choose the date from a few that are suggested. If you let me know which version of Windows you have, I'll try and give instructions.
I'm not being dumb on purpose here,i really could not tell you. Thanks for the offer anyway!

Press the Windows key and R at the same time. A box should appear. Type winver in the box, then OK. All should be revealed......

My laptop did the thing it does every now and then. It went into some kind of mode that says something like ....Do not turn your computer off. Windows preparing to configure numbers. It started counting down then it restarts. The videos are now back on! Why the fark couldn't it have done this earlier?! Anyway, problem solved!...for the time being.
Thanks for the replies and advice folks!

Windows would have started downloading required patches sometime ago and on a slow internet connection this can take hours or days if your pc is only on sometimes. Possibly when your PC started downloading all the files it needs to update itself it may have reduced available internet bandwidth to the point video and audio couldn’t stream.
