I stopped using local bike shops a while ago. Saw one down the bottom of my road so rather than sort it out my self thought I would pay someone else to do it for me it was a cable on the front derauiler snapped.

That was over a week ago supposed to be ready for wednesday. Phoned got told due to staff shortage will not be ready until Sunday (fine going out Monday as its bank holiday). No phone call Sunday so go to pick it up only to find once I got there its not ready. Shocking service they could have phoned would no have hurt.
Will be the last time I use or frequent this shop thats for sure.

If they aren't doing it today I'd suggest collecting - particularly if they'd promised it by a certain date.

A shame that..........they do themselves no good at all. Then they wonder why business is poor.
There are 2 "LBSs" to me and between myself & a friend we have used them both a few time........both are excellent

I touched on this not long ago when I wanted a new road bike, I wanted to support my LBS but he made it so difficult by being completely indifferent (almost obstructive) to a sale that I went online in the end and saved 250 pounds which paid for pedals, shoes and lots of other kit. I don't think I could have tried harder to buy from him either, save for giving him the full early 2016 list price for a late season bike heavily discounted everywhere else, and maybe cleaning his house and walking his dog for him for the next year.
Another LBS near me wants £28 for a Park multi tool that I can get for £14 at its cheapest online, or £17 at Wiggle. I get that he has overhead costs and I'm prepared to pay some more (say £20-22 or close) to see something in the flesh, not have to wait, and to support his business, but double just isn't competitive and my willingness to support local businesses only goes so far. I'm not here to be messed about.

They don't help themselves, some are clearly oversubscribed with people willing to pay too much for too little in terms of service and value.

normally i take bike to local decthlon as it was my commuting spare thought I would get it done locally still not had it back or an apology.
If it continues as it looks like it will will post details of the lbs on here, the spare part they are waiting for is a gear cable two weeks lol what bike shop doesnt have a bike cable.

Can't believe they've still got it, if it were me I'd have picked it up off them as soon as they'd failed to meet their original promise.

Go get your bike, buy a cable from another shop, then pop it in when you get home :okay:

received yesterday....I call this pretty good service

Hi Simon,
I have found the part – a “hub cap”. The part number is Y-4CB13500. Unfortunately the suppliers don’t have any and they are discontinued. I gave the code as you may find someone out there on the interweb who has one. The other option is the black plastic cap from the RS20 and 30 wheels which they do still have. The cost is £3.99 per single cap.
Let me know if you would like to order those and I’ll get right on it.
Kind Regards
B......

Why on Earth would you hand your precious bike to a shop to do a simple cable change? You could have done it in ten minutes for only the cost of the cable.
