The Costa Clyde rain magnet.
Partly as a result of the issue posted here, I decided I had run my course driving local taxis. I am on a pension, so not looking for another proper "career", and am about to start a wee part time job in Greenock, about 15 miles from home. One of the reasons I took it is that it gives me the opportunity to bike commute (only in the better weather
; I am not about to become one of those hardcore types over on the commuting board
). Hours are 10am to 5pm; one week on, one week off. So plenty of free time to build some miles, hopefully.
The main A78 route is not very bike friendly, to put it mildly. Busy, narrow trunk road; horrible for cycling. However, there is an alternative which involves a degree of climbing
. The upside is obvious though, this was taken on a particularly busy day for traffic:
The hills above Inverkip is another alternative:
From the hill north of Largs, looking over Cumbrae with Arran in the distance. Oh, and a nuclear power station (the white bit)...
