..bike is a Specialized Secteur, done 4 trips on it now 19 mile round trip, really nice bike, light, fast(bike not me) only thing is I was really missing the bar-end mirror I have on my hybrid so have fitted a Blackburn road bike mirror, bit rattly in comparison but has improved my journey considerably. As from Monday am no longer working shifts so will be travelling in much more traffic.so even though I'm sure it's not 'cool' I wouldn't be without it now.Anybody else have one or is it too naff to consider?

did you get raceblades?
Yes got some as part of the deal, had a strange creaking noise for last 2 days just been back to shop with it,turns out it's the spokes, they rang Specialized who have very kindly offered a replacement pair of wheels which are 1 grade up from the originals:smile:

I was looking at the secteur, would you recommend it potsy ?.

Never heard of spokes creaking though ? was it really loud or just like a pinging sound ?

Loud enough to be annoying tbh, hopefully will be sorted next week with the new wheels.lbs man was squeezing 2 spokes together and you could hear it clearly,he seemed to know what he was talking about.
It's a lovely bike my 1st drop bar bike so can't really compare it to anything else.Went for the Sport version for the Sora/Tiagra groupset over the bog standard 2300.

"Start weight 15st 11lbs
Target 13st 7lbs
1st October-14st 2lbs/9lbs to go "

Now you've got a more aerodynamic and lighter bike, you're kCals per mile will reduce.

Which means, old chap, kCal intake will ALSO have to reduce....

I picked mine (also a Sport Triple) up today, with the assistance of a local CCer who met me down at the LBS this morning.

I did a test ride of about 8 miles a couple of days ago and fell in lust with the thing. I was on Daddy Duty today, so I couldn't get out on it until after dark and only did about 16 miles. But boy, is it lovely.

Thanks for the info on the spokes, Potsy. I'll keep an ear out for that.
