In a similar, but not 50p a song vein, I have been listening to Gary Lucas. He used to play with Captain beefheart an is about the same age as me, but light years away in ability! Here's a snippet - there are lengthier tracks of course. Gary Lucas.

Actually regarding that second busker, i've noticed this becoming more popular, people with electrics and mics out and about busking.
i find this odd.
i'm happy to pop along to open mics and sing away with my guitar etc but when busking it should be done minus electrics, the voice and the guitar are the act not how much you can electrify through the streets. i dunno i'm quite opinionated on this one, i like my busking to be acoustic
and in some way it shows more skill, see with electrics and effects you can cover an awful lot of mistakes, acoustically though mistakes get noticed easily, vocally a mic may be needed for a weak singer where, someone with a more powerful voice and some common sense will setup somewhere where their voice will really carry.
