I picked my new bike up on Friday lunchtime and she is a little beauty indeed; I've named her Eve. She's a 10 speed single chain set with disk brakes and 4 inch wide tires; it only occurred to me today that I'm now riding single, double and triple chain set bikes.

My first (And so far only.) ride was down to Lyme sea front Friday afternoon where I took her for a spin on the sand then along the pebbles. Even though it was chucking it down I thoroughly enjoyed blasting along the beach. The big fat tires certainly turned a few heads I'm looking forward to getting up Woodbury common and down on Bournemouth beach with her.

I'm so glad I got a fat bike; it's definitely the best money I've ever spent I think.

How is the supply of tyres for that? I`ve not seen them at Halfords...

There's not that many shops that sell them that I know of. My LBS got the Caribou in especially for me so I reckon they could get the tyres in especially for me as well. If not there's a bike shop down Swanage way that specialises in fat bikes so I could easily get any replacements from them.

Those tyres aren't the biggest that Surly do either; they do tyres up to 4.8 inches wide with 10cm wide rims. Mental big wheels I'd be surprised if I see Halfords stocking them anytime soon.

I remember James Cracknel doing an arctic ride on one of those, it was after he was clouted round the head with a trucks wing mirror. He didn't do too well (considering what he could do) as he was still recovering.

Still an excellent effort, and a very capable bike in those conditions.

I bet you are looking out the window praying for snow every night!

I reckon I'm possibly the only person in Britain who's hoping for at least a foot's worth of snow fall tonight lol.

The annoying thing is, I'm going in to hospital on Tuesday to have some metal taken out of my left ring finger which means I probably won't be allowed to cycle for a while. My new bike will be sitting in the garage unused & I'll be in there drooling over it. My dilemma is; do I ride my new bike to work tomorrow for one final hurrah before my op & risk leaving a £1,500 bike locked up to some railings outside the local newsagents or do I ride my bog standard MTB tomorrow & spend the next 2 weeks or so eagerly anticipating my 2nd fat bike ride whilst waiting for my finger to heal.

You aren't the only one wanting snow, I got myself an Audi Allroad in the summer and want to try that out too!!

Mudguards!? Mudguards!? I don't need mudguards lol (It's been nearly two years now since I've had mudguards on any of my bikes.)

She certainly is turning heads. I cycled down to the beach after work & a few of the school kids were eyeing up the tyres. As I was cycling along the beach I got a flipping puncture which annoyed me beyond belief; I'm definitely buying shares in an inner tube company. I'm just glad I was given a spare inner tub for free; at £11 a pop for an inner tube I don't want to be getting too many punctures, ideally no more at all.
