Further to my reply earlier Judderz...because of the slight extra length of the ribble top tube compared to my Bianchi, i opted for a shorter stem. Saddle to bar measurement remains the same on both bikes then.

I rang Ribble today to discuss the Gran Fondo and the Sportive Racing, told them I'm 6ft 3", worked out my inside leg using their method, mentioned I currently ride a 57cm sloping top tube on my current ride, (here's where it gets weird), they said if I was to go for the Gran Fondo, I would need a XXL frame (58cm), but if I was to go for the Sportive Racing, I would need a L (55cm) frame???

Think I'm going to have to have a visit there, and see/sit on the bikes, it's a lot of money to spend so have to make sure the bikes right.

I have found that as you ride more then some of the cockpit stuff, bar widths, stems lengths, stem angle etc change as you become fitter. Have just gone back to 100mm stem after using a 90 for ages as body has adjusted. Interesting on sizing, i am just over 6' (185cm) and am riding a 58cm Cervelo S1. Feels fine to me, think you hit on the important issue of sitting on bikes to see how they feel to you. Inside leg length pretty important.
Bike does look great!! Very flash!!

First ride tonight....one word...fabulous
Where do you begin ?...
Fitted with my fulcrum 5s and some lights...couldnt wait to get out..
Its like a cross between my winter commuter and my Bianchi... the commuter's an old 531 raleigh, huge rake on the forks, thin seatstays, both contributing to a silky smooth ride, but slow to respond to you.. The bianchi, new of course, edgy, instantly responds to you but harsher.
The ribble gives you the best of both worlds. Super smooth over the tarmac, responding instantly to any input from the rider. Get out the saddle and accelerate...it goes.
I did worry i'd not thought of something when i specced it. To keep the saddle to bars distance the same, i opted for a 70mm stem. Then i realised that may make the steering very twitchy...but not so. Its quick to respond, but riding one handed at reasonable speed, it didnt feel any different from what i'm used to (working on the principle one handed would make you twitchy anyway)

It may still need a little fettling on the fit...if i get out the saddle to accelerate, my knees look a tad close to the bars. Perhaps it was always that way and i didnt notice, perhaps thats the negative result of a short stem.

Gears are well set up, very precise, just slip into gear.
The 2012 veloce levers with new design hoods are definately more comfortable, better feeling than my Xenons, but as i switched down a gear i found the finger lever did tend to flick towards the bars instead of sideways. No stiffness, perhaps too smooth, perhaps just take a while to get used to.

So a quick sub 15 miles this evening and now ive got a big cheesy grin all over my mush. Its a huge leap of faith buying before you see, let alone ride. I was lovestruck with the Bianchi Impulso, but i'm glad i got this. My test ride on the Bianchi was good, but it didnt leave me feeling :hyper:.

No regrets..i love it, i'm grinning as i write this  Good looking, precise, responsive, supremely smooth on the road...i'd better stop or i'll be here all night

Am now just stirring a little but how does one spell fibre? Fiber? I would have thought that Ribble would have taken the "re" path not the "er" one.
Still doesn't change the fact that the bike looks great!!

Aint that the truth!! Great to hear that your first ride went well. It is amazing what one get used to with regard to sizes etc. The change up from a 90mm stem to 100mm (after being down as low as an 80) after 8 months or so is just making the bike feel oh so different again. Just feels like it fits more to me again. Mind you the S1 is quite a tight frame, as age progresses i think i will have to look towards a Specialised Roubaix. Rode one recently, it was like riding in a supercharged loungechair!!
Is the frame geometry specs on the Ribble site for your bike, I would be interested to see what they look like.
Again congrats on a successful choice!!! Enjoy as your summer approaches (and winter creeps up on us down here!)

Yeah, I thought the same about the " fiber " , a minor blip on an otherwise great looking bike

Circa £1100.
Seatpost n bars etc...i said earlier i didnt realise they were wing bars...actually i know why now, i didnt order wings (or i dont think i did), theyve obviously upgraded them, probably because they were out of stock of the lesser version.
Look wise (bars) , a tiny bit garish, all the squares and carbon effect, but it certainly makes a visual impact. Also, because they're wings, the bar tape doesnt extend up the bars anywhere near as far as normal, it stops possibly 100mm from the stem, possibly limiting your hand position somewhat.
I like the look of the drops too, again, its one of those things that you're taking a leap of faith in, you really dont get enough idea in the picture. I look at the drops on Boardman bikes and simply dont like them, just the amount of drop and general curvature, but these are nice.

Stem, ive just flipped mine...and the logos are not flip'able, so now its upside down. Meh, not the end of the world, but...

Seatpost...just looks plain nice to me.

I havnt ridden it yet, so cant let anyone know how it actually feels.

Cheer for all that!
Looks like I'll be investing in similar bars then, its exactly what I'm after. Im a bit picky about the shape of the drops too, but these look alright.

Hopefully I'll be able to find a summer job for the 4 months I'll spend at home from uni!
Get some funding in the bank account to build something a little like this
Or maybe just tell the girlfriend that the holiday is off?

I'm having that bike off you GBB, must be something illegal that means I can seize it under the Ways and means act 1969. (If I can catch you and that wold be a BIG if). Lovely bike mate!

Very nice, have had mine nearly a year now, done around 3000 miles on it and love it even more. Not the best picture I know...
