I got this recently, it's an older Woodrup tourer, Reynolds 531c, custom made with a shorter top tube for the original owners wife who must have my exact proportions. It's a very deep purple, the true colour doesn't show up that well in the picture but it's beautiful!

I am going to stick with these bars for now and see how I get on with the Ergo bar ends, if I don't then I will likely change to butterfly bars.

I love it, I've never ridden anything so comfortable!  It's very fast and nearly as light as my Secteur. I decided to sell the Secteur as I couldn't see riding it again after riding on steel! I will eventually put on my Speedplay pedals in the spring but for over winter these are surprisingly good-  and I can wear waterproof boots.  The back rack is a cheapie from Aldi's but is very sturdy - it'll do until I can afford a Tubus.

This isn't the best picture, but it was chucking it down outside and I decided to stay dry....

Thanks Jags, I think this was a total bargain  at £150.00 - I never thought I'd be able to afford something so nice! It's been well looked after too. Can't tell you how thrilled I am with it!

Thanks for the link, I will certainly consider those if the Ergos don't work out for me.

I was able to sell the Secteur within about 2 hours of putting it up, and coincidently happened upon a Galaxy going for even less than the Woodrup. Funny how things work out!  I'm planning on using the Woodrup as my road bike for club rides and lighter touring, and using the Galaxy for fully loaded stuff, longer trips and rougher roads/canal path type of riding.

Some day I'll get a 26" tourer, but I think I'm set for quite a while now....

but if you have a galaxy why buy a 26 wheel tourer.
the dawes will cope with anything you throw at it .
i have the thorn sherpa excellent bike strong as an old horse
really solid ,but next time around ,(when i win the lottery)) i will be going for a 700cc custom tourer
as light and strong as is possible even fully loaded.
btw 150quid for that woodrup you lucky devil.

Can I ask where you found the bike for sale, I'm looking for a cheaper road/touring bike but i've had no joy. Anyone point me where I should be keeping an eye out?

Nice bike by the way

I will certainly use the Galaxy for any rough stuff and see how it handles. I wanted more of an 'expedition' type bike - a LHT or Thorn Sherpa... but if the Galaxy fits the bill then that will be fine....

I still can't believe my luck with the Woodrup, it's fantastic!

Nice find - don't know how much of an issue it would be but the 531c was more for a racing type frame, 531st was for touring as it was toughened up to allow for the extra weight of panniers. Doubt if it make make much difference but you may notice it if you've got the bike loaded up to the gunwales.

Yeah,  Willem pointed that out to me right after I bought it.... so I'll use the Woodrup for my daily rides and light touring and the Galaxy for fully loaded stuff....should work out great!!!

Thanks for the replies - the best part is I bought both bikes, new mudguards and a new Brooks saddle with the money I got from selling the Secteur, and I still have some left in the bank!
