First time that four of us Paris to Romers (2013) have been out together on a ride for ages, so we celebrated by adorning all our bikes with 'streamers of shame'... on the P2R ride, they had to be carried by someone who transgressed the previous day.

I spent the day playing the 1st trumpet part of Mahler's 5th Symphony with the orchestra I've been in for (gulp!) 33 years, and despite my health issue and less playing recently, I got away with it reasonably convincingly, I think, and the chops stayed the course. Yay!

And I was the only person to ride to and from the rehearsal, so I think I should get a brownie point for that. I should let the timpanist off, I guess, for driving a car there.

Up at in-Laws in Reading.

Morning dog walk round Dinton Pastures and we came across this big swan preening itself on the edge of the path next to the lake (myself and my dog approached from the direction the Swan was looking).

"He" did not move, so we gave him a wide berth ("he" still gave us an impressive hiss) and I took photo from behind as "he" kept "his" eye on us.

Riffing at home on a theme for publicity for my orchestra's Mahler 6 project in the autumn. Obviously it needs a trumpet in it, not least as I'm project managing it.

A virtual Cuban cigar to anyone who recognises the background location.
