After reading this thread I am now a convert to Porridge with water.
Sat having my first bowl now and I prefer it ;)

After starting cooking for myself I just assumed it was made with milk and had done it this way for years, this now tastes like the porridge my Granny used to make.

I've switched to water too, much nicer!

It should just be a pinch!
It helps bring out the flavours, before you add the cold milk top and half a pound of sugar (or sugar substitute in my case, damn you diabetes)
