but why are bars slightly raised angle and levers are wayyyy up in the sky?! not standard

How are you standing the bike up on its own?

Bar position is due to long-standing inflexibility issues.

I used a short rod-rest (fishing item) braced against the bottom of the down-tube. You can't see it due to the shallow angle at which it enters the ground.
