I really like the look of the Cayo Evo 2 (£2k) but it's slightly lesser spec than the Cube (FSA Energy Focus crank opposed to the Cubes Ultegra).

How would you compare the Focus frames vs Cubes for quality and ride?

Not ridden. However, look at the warranty offered,. Cube's is short on carbon, but to me, the aesthetics are better than Focus (just avoid black ;) )

I think the Cayo Evo is an aggressive geometry, is that what you want for commuting and sportives?

Hi Ryan.

Focus will be using the FSA cranks so that they can stick with the BB30 bottom bracket.

Shimano (weirdly) don't agree with BB30 or other large BB standards & so an adapter would be required to run Ultegra chainset, partially negating the inherent stiffness of BB30.
This also introduces another component to the BB area, more components, more play, theoretically more to go wrong.

I don't believe that many do go wrong (if at all) just that some brands choose to stick with the BB30 they designed into the bike.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

If they are fairly equal on price then go for the one with a better groupset. Both are great bikes, but you'd need to ride them to determine which is be

Given your indecisiveness (like me!) and coupled with the cost factor, then why not wait a couple of months at which point the 2014 models will be discounted...

I have my eye on the Giant TCR Comp 1 which is £1599, but thinking shall i wait a few months when they get reduced too, do you know when this might happen, when do you think th 2015 range start getting advertised?

I'm a big fan of focus bike they are pretty responsive framesets for me, they are stiff and lively. I would personally take one over the cube.

The cube is a decent bike, its very well put together and has a decent ride and build quality, but I find the frameset to be a little lacking in responsiveness.

Fast and careful!
Ride both tcr and defy , I prefer the defy and have a advanced, good all round bike, light, good club bike and more relaxed geometry for 100 mile days,Don't be put off by 105 good entry level to the good stuff, cost at service is a lot lower to replace parts and you will need to change stuff if you do the miles, just something else to consider
