What we'll do is build three huge spaceships. The A,B and C arks.

In the A ark, we'll put all the thinkers.
In the C ark, we'll put all the doers.

And in the B ark.........

As captain of the B Ark can you not tell us?

It's 'start a new thread' day today, so why not one which is a bit politically incorrect?

The main problem of the majority of the world's environmnental problems is usually ignored... namely, too many people. So how do you get rid of some in a way that is both ethical and useful for future generations?

In nature, it's 'survival of the fittest'. Humans have become a bit molly-coddled and it's no longer survival of the fittest generally, but survival of the richest. Those who can afford the basic necessities of life, and expensive treatment when ill.

My theory is that everyone should have to spend 2 weeks a year entirely in the wild, without provisions. Those who survive, obviously get to live. Those who don't, obviously don't. That takes care of the physical fitness side (I guess it could be argued that fatties would survive because of excess resources, but they'd also slim down and be less of a burden). People who are infirm, but survive because others helped them to, enable the generation of a society built on altruism which is no bad thing. Whatch'a reckon? (I have been termed a 'fascist hippy' before, just for the record).

Any other theories going?

Cheaper all round I suppose. Gets rid of the sick and the disabled - why not gas 'em and send them to work camps? Oh no, that's already been done.

£50k cash to every person under the age of 20 prepared to be sterilised. It can be reversed but will cost, yep, £50k.

But only before they have first child. After the first I'd just offer them a Fiat Punto. Hopefully this would suck in all those too thick to realise whats going on so as a bonus the average IQ would rise.
As you given under 20 as a criteria the Puntos would not effect cyclist but for a brief time, as they wouldn't be able to get affordable insurance (due to the new tax on under 20's insurance I'd introduce) so would have them seized and crushed anyway.
Job done.

Hang on, there'll be no-one left to empty my bin ;)

I've been debating this in P&L, but here's something to think about.

Between 1992 and 2004, the UK's carbon emissions rose by 18%. In the same period, our total population rose by only 4%.

So do you think that population is the main problem?

Maybe the time has come for those in the Cafe to sort it out seeing as you P&L lot seem to get nowhere with it! ;)

I'd vote for a cake eating contest. No drink to wash it down. Pure and simple. First one to complain of a sore tummy or a dry mouth loses...
