Ah! Our cat, Alf, was a rescue cat too, and gets occasionally hassled by one of the other cats on the street who he stares at, hiding under the car.

Happy new cat! Both of ours (the late lamented ginger Joe and his replacement, the 14 year old dribbling yowler Ruby) have been rescue cats, from Cat's Protection in Hereford.

He's a cutie. I took my cat in as a kitten when someone over the road was being evicted for non mortgage payments.

They were going to dump her.

Contrary to what you might think, if you visit a Cat rescue centre, do not think that you have chosen a cat.

It seems to me that my cats have chosen me. Its the way they look at you from their pen!

Aw, very nice.

If and when I ever get a cat or dog, it'll be a rescue job, preferably an out and out mutt.

BTW Simba if the cats round here are anything to go by then he'll love some of these as a treat.

Freddie (see my avatar) <<<< also meows hello and would recommend Dreamies cat treats.

His mother was resuced from the wolverhampton road in brum, heavily pregnant, and a colleague of my o/h's took her in. Two days later she had 7 kittens in their bedroom. We have two of them.

That's good news Simba!

Doogie (our rescue cat...) loves Webbox but doesn't have many teeth left so they're a bit of a struggle for him! He can hoover up Dreamies ok though.

Settling in should be straight forward, just leave him to it to find his own round, don't fuss or follow him. Also, try to keep visitors away for a few days. I suspect family and friends will want to come round to poke and stroke, but put them off until he gets his confidence.

When we got out latest cat we let her find her own way, and within half an hour she'd eaten, used her tray and was asleep by a warm radiator... clearly she found the whole thing very stressful.
