Called the rescue centre today, was informed he has a mass on his abdomen, he is going to see the vets asap and I will know by Thursday. Hope he is ok.

Really looking forward to bringing him home. Any tips on getting him settled in to his new place? Never had a rescue animal before.

If you've got a room that you can shut him in on his own, with a litter tray, food and a few cat toys, then do that. Leave him alone for a bit to settle in, then try and spend time in the room with him. If he wants to hide behind the sofa, or wherever, let him - he'll come out when he's ready.
It all depends on the cat. Joe spent the first week behind the sofa and wouldn't come near either of us, whereas Ruby spent maybe five minutes sniffing around before leaping onto my shoulder and dribbling all over me as I sat at the computer. Horrible creature*.

Called the rescue centre today, he has had his scan and the vet doesn't want to operate on it, he thinks it is nothing to worry about but has taken a blood sample to be sure. Will hear by Tuesday with any luck.

Scan and blood work are clear for a tumor, they think it's a swollen lymph node. We are picking him up today.
