Haha, in Genoa by mistake we ended up on the famous raised road that bypasses the worst of the traffic and cuts right across the city, and ironically the driving up there was better.

Whilst manically busy and confusing, we found Genoa much less aggressive than the UK. Chaos, but good humoured chaos. And the stench of two stroke.

Meanwhile, the Bay of Naples area is like hell on earth for driving, it's beyond bad, & just about every car is smashed to bits, the only one I saw that wasn't was a very new looking, top spec Range Rover, I presume the owner would cheerfully "Make you an offer you can't refuse" they even ram the car in front at T Junctions if you don't pull out after a look in both directions, regardless if anything is coming. or not

Reminds me of the time I went to Moscow. There were loads of gangster owned SUVs with staved in rear ends. The cosmonaut we were doing a homestay with explained that it was caused by the huge difference in braking distance between the Ladas and modern SUVs.
