My upcoming tour

Here's the plan:-
this Sat 4th, train to Dover to connect with European Bike Express.
Disembark at Macon.
Day's ride to Thonon les Bains.
Follow the Tour des Grandes Alpes to Menton on the mediterannean coast.
Head northwest to Orange taking in Mont Ventoux on the way.
Fri 17th, train to Paris and connect with another to Cherbourg.
Hop on the Portsmouth ferry and back in Blighty late Friday.

Getting excited - and it must be said - a little bit nervous.
Travelling light: just two panniers and staying in hotels and B&B's.

Here's my bike. I've since given it a new chain, chainring, sprocket, brakes blocks and M+ rear tyre:-

Ive got that same feeling, I fly to Spain with my bike this Sunday and will make my way back over a couple of weeks, fully loaded with a tent.Will be around Cherbourg or St Malo (haven't decided yet)roughly the same date as you.

All my kit is laid out in the garage with the bike in bits, a bike box and panniers scattered everywhere

Wish I had a plan.
I think I will set off next Tuesday for the Tyne and a ferry to Ijmuiden.....and that's it so far.

Thank you. Have cycled in France several times before, but never in the Alps.

Bring some 6" nails with 1" washers , wish I'd had them at the beginning of my trip the ground I camped on was really hard and rocky bent all my tent pegs in the first few days.
