My very scientific Bicycle Helmet Test

Got a new helmet and some other gear yesterday, so I thought I would get rid of my old helmet today. It's a few years old, so I wouldn't want a kid taking it out of the bin or finding it and using it...and it also seems like a terrible waste not to see what they can actually withstand.

Turns out, I can run over cyclists with my motorbike without needing to worry...I just better not go back and jump on their head more than twice

I am about 13 stone (if I've had a curry and am a bit bunged up...otherwise I like to think I'm nearer 12). Not after a helmet 'marmite' debate - just thought it'd be a bit of fun!

Aye, that the thing, a lot motorist think the same, if a cyclist is wearing a helmet, then it doesn't matter if they hit them...

Parts and petrol are cheap. A tank is under a fiver and that'll keep it going for a hundred odd miles (it's about 6p per mile in petrol). Bought some new parts the other day. The battery was £9.

Yep. It certainly has sold a fair few! Was awarded 'Greatest Motorcycle of all Time'.

I found I could get a set of tyres for the Cub for all of £19.
No need for 2 stroke oil like most peds, the Cub is a single cylinder 4 stroke.
Also 75 MPG is pretty good.

They are awesome!


Also I'm impressed the helmet could take a good amount of damage.

I'm getting about 90mpg and I don't ride it efficiently. I ride sensibly and probably am reasonably efficient, but with an MPG like that you don't need to worry too much.

Did have to pay £17 for oil...because it only came in a 5l drum from Halfords
