Aye, seriously, I thought Reg was a lady and had a mental image and all sorts. It wasn't so long ago I figured out that TMN wasn't a feller. I really am out of touch.

As for Accy, we all know he's a feller. No one would call their daughter Susan.

Always polite to quote source

You cannot.
The postmodern person is a hybrid. They have, not one core, permanent self, but many selves. Their self—and their identity—are not fixed, but continually in process, as the boundaries between themselves and others, and between the different parts of themselves are negotiated.
Call I - 'them' please.

This represents a move from structuralism to deconstruction, with the signifier and signified now being disconnected. In fact, in this situation, we can say that the signifier is “empty” or “floating.” As for Humpty Dumpty, Jacques Lacan described him as “the master of the signifier,” which, let’s face it, is pretty high praise for someone who looks like an egg—no matter how good and handsome a shape that egg may be.
I just thought up these words while sitting on the crapper:

Postmodernism is a wide sweeping reaction to the modern. It is not an organized movement and many of the theorists and writers identified as postmodernist refute the label. Initially a movement reacting to modern architecture and modernism in art, postmodernism as a critique of the modern has spread to every department in academia. Postmodernists in sociology have focused their critique on modernity, its assumptions, institutions, economic order, and culture. They believe modernity has ended and that we are in the era of postmodernity (Giddens, 1990). Because of the fragmented nature of the postmodernism it's not possible to address all the elements of the postmodern critique.

Now, can we stop the cheating at the clever contest and get back to the thread subject? Which is, funnily, about people using words to try to sound cleverer.
That's it, you've definitely lost @Drago now.

Don't encourage @Markymark
As if anything you lot think has any bearing on myself.....

Anyway, I have to say this is without doubt the best thread.....ever. I'm sure you'll all agree. It's a thread all about me.

Has anyone said " I am beside myself" or am I just repeating things?
