Just finished assembling my new +1, which involved attaching rear mech, wheels, handlebar & seat stems and pedals, and just as I pumped up the tyres, I spotted this lying on the ground. It may be unrelated, but any ideas very welcome...

Looks like a spring to me no mystery at all.

Could be a spare for a front or rear mech though ? is it new or not ?

Don't think its off a rear derailleur but it looks like one of the front derailleur.

Hmmm...thanks. Yes, I agree it looks like it should be part of the mech, but the mech at least looks complete, and it seems to be working fine. And other than attaching the rear mech to the frame, I didn't do anything, so couldn't have let it fall off while attaching cables or anything...they all came pre-attached. I think I'll just keep it safe until something goes snafu, then I'll go 'ah...that's what it was!'
