Any idea what the shield stamped on this ancient tool signifies?
Properly stamped in & it's a good quality tool. Not sure if it the mark of the owner or the manufacturer or a bike maker

No I don't recognise that shield.
Got a fair few of those multi tools myself

Would have been supplied with a new bike.
The shield is probably a simplified version of the makers mark. It would be a question of sorting through them and finding the one which approximates.

The same spanner came stamped Brooks, TDC plus a host of other brands. Kids used to nick them off the bikes we had in the shop. We had piles of spares free from Raleigh :smile:

Decent bit of kit for freebies, unlike now. It's 3mm thick, heavily used, and still fit for purpose
