it’s fine for what I use it for which has been only for workouts. Longest has been 90 mins in zone 2. I’ve done some bigger effort intervals and it does the job perfectly. The social/community side is lacking due to low numbers, but that’s fine for me as it’s really just a tool for now.
I’m running it on an Apple TV 4K 1st gen and the graphics again are fine for what I use it for, but guess anyone looking for slick HD gaming quality would be disappointed. The backgrounds and scenery are a nice change from other platforms.

Time to upgrade that old 1st gen sucker! It is not supported, and WILL be having issues depending on the world. Graphics was horrid when I tried my 1st gen a year ago. I couldn’t live with it! Luckily it runs fine on my midrange desktop PC at 60FPS (V5.0.0).

Presume you mean support from MyWhoosh, or do you mean support in general from Apple? I’ve had issues in MyWhoosh where the tv remote and iPhone remote no longer control the game mid ride - no big deal as I’ve been able to continue my ride/workout and fortunately restarting MyWhoosh retains the ride data so I can upload it to Strava, intervals etc.
Time to upgrade
I never like to hear that message 😢

It is a streaming device first and foremost, so as long as it can still support the main videoformats, I think Apple will keep it going. But 8 years old now, so way over the normal support period for an Apple device!

For gaming, its 3GB RAM will start to be a limiting factor, and the CPU/GPU is also a bit slow by today’s standards. With Unreal Engine 5 now being the engine for MyWhoosh, I think the older devices days are numbered….

And that didn't work either. It gets stuck at the point where it requires a huge download...
But eventually I discover the answer...

You know those on-screen buttons that you have to click... buttons like 'Download' and 'Cancel'? Buttons that don't work when you click them? Why are you single-clicking them? Every fool knows that you have to double-click on-screen buttons... yeah?!!!

And when one tries to login, one discovers that the arrow keys on the remote will not take the cursor from one box to another. That has to be done by swiping! Which would be fine if one liked swiping and had not disabled that feature...

Anyway, all set now for the next rainy day!

I wish! :cursing:

We finally have that rainy day, complete with wind, and a pretty cool temperature. An ideal day for MyWhoosh testing to force another multi-GB download onto my creaky broadband! I thought AppleTV boxes did this in the background so we didn't have to wait for updates?!

So, another 2 hours to wait...

I am supposed to be able to upgrade to full fibre BB in the next couple of months so these lengthy upload times should soon become a thing of the past. Meanwhile, I will check for updates every morning. If there is one waiting, I will start downloading it before I go downstairs for breakfast .

Ha! I just went to check on progress...

2.5 GB downloaded.

I watched a few YouTube videos via AppleTV while downloading was taking place. I went back to check MW again...

Only 2.2 GB downloaded!!!

I double checked. Yes, the download stalls if I try to use the box to watch anything else during the download! Worse than that, large blocks of painfully slowly downloaded data get dumped if they haven't yet been saved before switching apps.

I am pretty sure that Apple does not allow background apps to use the internet (well, maybe their own ^_^).

Keep the MyWhoosh app active and watch YouTube somewhere else. :okay: The app is most likely updating itself via App Store, but the other data needed is to be downloaded from within the app - just like on other platforms.

Maybe Apple does not allow really big apps in the app store, and the other data is downloaded from somewhere else?

I still have a free Zwift trial to use but I go away regularly until October so I am waiting until then to use it, especially because my outdoor cycling always takes a hit around then.

I am leaving the MW download running now and not messing with anything else on the box!

When I have superfast BB I won't be too bothered. It is really annoying now though not to be able to use the turbo when I had finally set a couple of hours aside to test it. I am starting to feel hungry but don't want to eat before my turbo session.

I will probably end up just doing 30-45 minutes this evening.

Still about 35 minutes to go...

I live alone so I am not sharing BB bandwidth with anybody else. I had previously thought that when fibre BB was finally available here I would save money by settling for a fairly modest 40-80 Mb/s BB speed. This has changed my mind - I will splash the cash and get a much faster connection!

Sounds really slow, the update on my iPad took less than 5 minutes. How fast is your connection? Download Speedtest from the app store on the ATV and see how much bandwith you ACTUALLY have in the place the ATV is located.
