They are some obscure Internet providers in the area. Ill find out

Meanwhile if you have a strong 4g or 5g mobile signal, you could get a 4g/5g router and probably get 50-150mbs for around £20-30/month. Check out EE and others who offer these routers.

I don't have fibre or a decent copper Internet connection to our home so we use 5g router. This our speed just now

My contract is up for renewal currently £30 per month

I did consider going that route, but would feel a bit vulnerable with only one comms connection.

I should get some quotes for full fibre soon from Plusnet and will also check out other ISPs.

You could do what I did before getting a 5g router. Use your mobile phones tether capability

We haven't had a landline in probably 15 years

I only pay £6/month for mobile, so I don't get much data with that. 2 GB is fine for occasional use though. I typically only use a fraction of that on the phone. I must use many hundreds of GB on my TV, laptop and tablet though.

I will stick to £6 mobile and pay £25-30 for fibre shortly once they finish connecting the local fibres.

As for MyWhoosh... I am almost hoping for a few days of bad weather to encourage me to use it again! I don't want to ride indoors when the weather is good.

It's all kicking off!! I just got an email from Openreach telling me that the local fibre is now connected so I can contact my ISP to upgrade my connection. I will ring Plusnet in a minute to see what they say. Soon no more painfully slow app updates!

Sorted! I have booked an intermediate package for now. I can upgrade later if I want/need even more speed. I'm happy - 23-40+ times the speed for a few pence a month more!

In other (more directly MyWhoosh) news... I have discovered that it is possible to create custom workouts on MyWhoosh, and custom playlists on YouTube Music. I fancy doing Norwegian 4x4 type workouts so I will choose 10(ish) minutes of music building up from relaxing to energetic, another 3(ish) minutes quieter, then alternating 4(ish) minutes loud/fast and 4(ish) minutes slower/quieter followed by 10-15 minutes worth of something to warm down to. I will adjust the timing of the various intervals to fit the music playlist. It should be an interesting exercise (pun intended!!)...

I will definitely be using full fan power as necessary!

Hmm... It will take me a while to find the right tracks of suitable lengths! I just quickly knocked up a test with a mix of slow/quiet, faster/louder which will do for a test ride tomorrow, but the only track I really like for the intervals is Ace of Spades, but that is a bit short.

I've just looked it up and the list goes

Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N Roses

Paradise City - Guns N Roses

Sweet Child O Mine - Guns N Roses

Pretty Vacant - Sex Pistols

Who You Lookin At? - Salford Jets

Public Image - Public Image

Streets of London - Anti-Nowhere League

Alternative Ulster - Stiff Little Fingers

:okay: ^_^

A while ago I made a playlist for the last 20 mins of a Zwift Race - this also had Ace of Spades in it.
My random choice of tracks has an Erik Satie piece as the quiet one before Ace of Spades. That transition will be a bit of a shock!

For some reason, my custom workout is not available today! I thought that I had done everything that I needed to do, but maybe I made a mistake in saving/exporting it?

No matter - I will set my playlist playing and freeride to it. It is not hard to remember what I planned to do...
  • Long warm up from rest to 200 W during track #1
  • A few minutes at 150 W during track #2
  • Alternate 225 W and 150 W for the next 6 tracks
  • 225+ W hard final effort to Ace of Spades
  • Warm down from 175 W to a stop during the final 2 tracks
I not only have the fan's remote control now attached to my handlebar, I have also tied a towel on for desweating duties. (I don't want to drop the towel and have to stop to pick it up!)

I have just remembered that my sweaty hands slipped off the bar tape last time. I will wear mitts this time. Oh, and a buff rolled into a sweatband.

I am going to go upstairs now. I may be some time...

Just a reminder that existing Zwift accounts get 25Km free per calendar month (a ride started with approx 1Km+ remaining can continue the ride until finished, just no drops or route completion after 25Km) and new accounts created/used exclusively on PC get 14 days unlimited use.

Tuesdays and Thursdays have "XP Express" group rides every two hours with late join until 30mins in, next scheduled at 2115 BST today. 40xp per Km.

I swear you enjoy the faffing more than the cycling!
Not this evening, I didn't... I am totally peed off!

After an hour of faffing, I still hadn't got the 3 bits of tech talking to each other... (Trainer, bridge app on tablet, MW app on Apple TV box.)

I have a bad left leg which really does not take kindly to me standing still or sitting still on a bike on a turbo trainer while trying to work out what the hell had gone wrong since I last used the kit a few days ago!

The leg was swelling up and becoming so uncomfortable that I abandoned the idea of riding today.

The leg is back up on its usual padded stool now and shrinking back to a more comfortable state.

I have calmed down and am trying to work out what the problem is. At first I thought that the tablet might have connected to the wrong output from my router (it has 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz outputs) but I checked and it wasn't that.

I could see a status message in the bottom right hand corner of the TV screen saying that the trainer was not connected. The tablet was connected to the trainer.

It looked like I wasn't the only person struggling. Riders were constantly passing by but there was a large group of others stuck at the start line with me. I imagined them cursing their tech in just the same way that I was!

Okay, time for more faffing... I won't be riding today but I want to get the problems sorted out so I can start using it regularly.
