Although I'm looking at bikes near that range and I'd prefer a top end alu with 105 such as the 2014 defy 1 than a low range carbon- just my pennysworth.

The CAAD frames are always much lauded. Think a 105 version is around £1200

If you swap the new dishwasher for a bottle of fairy, that'll give you another £299.11... And what do you need a telly for? With your new bike you'll then be able to afford, you won't have any time left to sit in and watch one...

Sounds like your priorities are all wrong to me!

The formula works like this:

N + 1 is happiness
N + 0 is disappointing but wont kill you
(N + 1) + (Dishwasher broke (£300) and then TV went the same way (£500) + ((£200 - £400) + big finance debt) = short term happiness and log term debt

N + 0 + (£200 - 400 savings) = N + 1 in a few months + no debt

Not completely sure what n is. If it's just road bikes it's 1. If it's commute capable bikes it's 2. If it's all bikes it's 3.

Don't do credit really except the obvious like house and certainly not for a luxury item......I just worry too much.

Don't replace the dishwasher and the TV. Buy some Fairy and listen to the radio. If cycling is your passion, problem solved.
