I tried that last night. I looked at a Maurice Woodrup 853 frame with hand cut lugs on their web site and my gusset remained undampened.

I have a carbon road bike, a hardtail MTB and now a steel road bike project....the steelie is too good to convert to single speed as per my original plan...so technically I still need a single speed conversion project, a cyclocross bike and a carbon bike with more racey geometry....I can't see an end to this anytime soon!
