OK. So.....after my thread a few months back pondering if I could convert my Cannondale BadBoy into a mountain bike to play on the single track trails and fire roads of Marin, i took the forums advice and fitted knoblies to the 'dale, but i never really loved that bike and therefore never got round to taking it out, instead opting to ride my stable of roadies absolutely every time i cycled.

So.... i've decided to carry out an experiment.

Hypothesis - I do not mountain bike because i don't love my Cannondale

Test Methodology - In order to ascertain the validity of the hypothesis above. A carefully constructed experiment has been set up.

Under the commonly accepted formula

biggrin.gif
= n + 1

where

is cycling nirvana
n is current bicycles owned

At present n = 4, as such, it seemed necessary for the author to do what was necessary to increment this figure and to try to achieve

, thus enabling MTB mojo and conditions conducive to a fair and balanced test.

As such, the next step in the process was to build a bicycle the author felt may be better loved than the previous Cannondale. Figure 1.0 below shows the results.

Hey Mark - nice, reasoned analysis - crap floor!

Looks good. I was nearly the proud owner of a Boardman Comp hardtail last year - but for 'The Halfords' screwing up... I couldn't be bothered in the end but yes, the idea does appeal.

Thanks boys. The floor and the radiator came with the apartment. They have a weird 'steam heat' system in apartment blocks here that runs during winter that makes the most almighty racket, but amazingly, such a small radiator really does the job and has the bonus of being free.

So far experiment is failing. I got home to find my rear tyre blown clean off the rim splatering sealant all over my lovely floor. Upon re-fitting it was bulging like....erm. Now i'm going to send back the tyre and wait for a replacement. Not sure if this "notubes" idea is the best. I might stick to old faithfull tubes.

'Teef. Go for it. If not, i have a nice Cannondale Bad Boy is xxxxs for sale

I saw your Dad today, Tollers! He was leading the Midweek Wayfarers through Chipstead. Dashing, affable and courteous in equal measure. How ever are you going to live up to him?

Haha. Goid to know. I havent spoken to him in a while as im always on the bike or working...or drinking. Simple answer is im going to make him proud by doing bigger hills/mountains ;) As long as I don't become too americanised, then I'm sure the tollercharm will increase in equal measure to my greying.

Was it next to the radiator when it blew?
