A (mid-80s?) Ernie Clements 10-speed tourer, "Designed by Ernie Clements" - well who'da thunk it!
A handsome machine. 531 tubing, brazed lugs, in black; chrome tipped front forks.
Silky, supple, responsive ride ....
....sort of. The Simplex front derailleur was obviously designed to last 30 years ... and precisely 7 miles. A wee central post that holds it in shape - fatigue fracture.
Ah well - it'll be changing gear the hard way tomorrow. Don't care. The weather forecast is for a bit of sunshine, and the wind dropping - so I'm taking it out for a good long run.
