...so it's a beautiful day, the sun is shining, cyclists are out in force (well, compared with the usual numbers around here in Manchester) and all is well with the world (apart from the fairly stiff headwind which has been annoying me since leaving the house )...

Approaching Hulme bridge and sailing through the traffic lights (just turning amber as I was passing the farthest line of the ASL) I do a life-saver and prepare to overtake another cyclist ahead of me. A black 4x4 accelerates through the (just) amber light and I tut to myself, I then notice that the car behind him is also still proceeding even though the lights controlling traffic which disects this road have now turned green. So, Mrs I'm-too-important-to-wait-for-traffic-lights in your crappy old Silver Honda (Civic, I think) let's see just how many laws you broke today...

You blatantly RLJd, and then proceeded to driving without due care by not moving to allow me room for my already started overtake... then, once you had pulled alongside me (well, traffic had slowed and backed up so she had nowhere to go) I glance across to see what a muppet you are for your driving thus far.... only to see you talking to your child in the front seat who had the seatbelt under his arm (and no booster seat although he was clearly young/small enough to warrant one) and your other child lying on the back seat not even wearing a seatbelt or in a childseat (she looked about 3 - 4 years old).

Really, what kind of a thick bint are you????????:angry::biggrin:

Some people should not really be allowed out by themselves, let alone procreate and be responsible for others.

report her to the police, they will stop her and most probably catch her with her kids unsecured.

Sharky, that headwind was a pain today, i wonder what time it will change direction so its a headwind again on the way home.

I go across the Hulme bridge too - and if you are talking about the junction I think you are (new flats on corner, parade of shops just after?) it's ridiculous the number of cars that RLJ there...

Maybe we should all report incidents so someone sees the stats and puts a camera there, I've had take evasive action there many times when lights have been green for me and cars have RLJ'd..

The junction is the one mentioned above (I think) - where Birchall Way crosses Royce Road heading towards the bridge.

I had one last week where I had to brake sharply as I suddenly spotted in my peripheral vision that a tw*t on a bike had jumped the lights from the right and was joining my path.... but didn't feel the need to actually give way to traffic that was legally progressing through the green light!!! ;);)!

Probably about 4.30pm, as usual. ;);)

Yep that's the place.

I saw the 2 most blatant car RLJ's I've ever seen there - once I had to do a really heartstopping emergency stop when someone flew across without even pausing when I had green light - and a couple of weeks ago on the way home I was coasting up to a red light when the car in front went straight through, just crept forwards, paused to check it was clear and turned left. Seen it done by cyclists many times but was quite a shock to see a car do it!

(Glad it's not just me suffering the evil headwind - I actually been wondering if my lungs have shrunk because it's been really tough a few times lately!)

That junction (and the one further up with Chorlton Rd) are notoriously bad for RLjumpers. In fact the whole area is full of bad driving!

The police regularly set up their high visibility ANPR checks on Stretford Rd as the hit rate is so good.
