As for the OP, i reckon he is in with a shout.
Good advice but the last time I gambled was when I had a pound on Foinavon in the 1967 Grand National. I don't think a couple of quid as a chance it bet will put me too far on the slippery slope.

I always have a jan 1st punt on the TDF, normally go for long odds, mind ive never won in 30 years but its a bit 'o' fun.

If you are after crazy long shot odds you could go for David Millar in his final season, or maybe even Ryder Hesjedal - though watch out rumour has it he might be clean now! 
In all seriousness i find it, rather depressingly, hard to see past Froome Dawg. His Nibs might have a chance but he will have to find the form of his life. Quintana so far has been a one off. There is no guarantee that he will be the same rider next season. He may be better or he may be worse. Sounds like he meets your criteria for a punt but tbh he won't get you good odds i don't think. He'll be a favourite.

Quintana has said he will ride the Giro, so you'd want good odds to back him for the Tour.
Contador was at 18/1 the other day, which I thought was worth a punt. There's been a lot of talk in the specialist press about a return to his traditional race program though, and his odds have shortened (possibly as a result). Now at 12s.
